Four food businesses in Knowsley were given a one-star food hygiene rating at their most recent inspections, according to Food Standards Agency (FSA) records.
A one-star rating means “major improvement necessary”. The score reflects what an inspector found on the day of the visit, covering food handling and hygiene, the condition of the premises, and how the business manages and records food safety. It is not a verdict on the quality of the food.
The four businesses, with the date each was inspected, are:
- Chungs Super Fry, a takeaway and sandwich shop at 166A Warrington Road, Prescot, L35 2UA, rated one star on 30 March 2026.
- Papa’s Pizza, a takeaway and sandwich shop at 34 Molyneux Drive, Prescot, L35 5DY, rated one star on 20 February 2026.
- The Food Box, a mobile caterer in the L33 postcode area, rated one star on 19 February 2026.
- Southdene Newsagents, a retailer at 7 Broad Lane, Kirkby, L32 6QA, rated one star on 12 February 2026.
Each rating reflects the inspection carried out on the date shown and may not reflect the current state of the business. Hygiene can change between visits in either direction.
A business that disagrees with its rating, or that has made improvements since its inspection, can ask its local council for a re-inspection, and can also use the FSA’s “right to reply” to publish a response alongside the rating. The records above carry no allegations beyond the score on the FSA register itself.
The full, current rating for any food business in England, including the breakdown behind the score, is published free of charge at ratings.food.gov.uk. The site is updated as new inspections are carried out.
